Sept 2011 Newsletter

UBC-TO Newsletter
Issue 7: Sep – Oct 2011
Thank You! Our Newsletter Turns 1 Today!
UBC-TO Newsletter is now one year young! We would like to sincerely thank all our writers for their dedication to this newsletter — Dr. Réa Beaumont, Kristen Miller, and Mark Savel. We would not have done it without our newsletter lead, Sami Dong, who pulls us all together with article deadlines, and editors Kristen Miller and Viet Ha Pham and Alumni Affairs Michael Awmack for the final touches. Also special thanks to our three speakers at UBC Bound!, Ken McCarter, Spenser Rocky, and Katherine Lee.

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in event planning. Time commitment is around 5 hours a month. Email elliot@ubcto.com for more details.

Movember, the month formally known as November doth approach again this year. There were almost 119,000 Canadian Mo Bros and Mo Sistas involved last year to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer. Together they raised a whopping 22.3 Million for prostate cancer research, awareness and survivorship. Check out Movember.com to see some of the inspiring outcomes that are coming from those funds. AND any MO-lumni (see what we did there) looking to get involved this year can register on the site from late September. Get ready to get growing, it’s only around the corner. We’re sure you’ll look MOvelous.

Want to set up a UBC-TO Movember team and raise some money for a good cause? Email elliot@ubcto.com for details.
